Rotate, Buy and Tweet

In the Arms of an Angel rotation completed!!!

Here it is before:

and after its 10 hours:

I've done more than I thought when I looked at the before and after shots there. It's always deceptive when your filling in.

I managed to pop along to my closest Hobbycraft. Was a bit of a mission on public transport with the 2 munchkins in tow but I did have hubby to help - like feeding the baby on the bus cos we got caught in rush hour traffic doh!!!
I didn't come away empty handed though.
The little kits were on 3 for £3 so bargain for some cute little kits.

I have also updated my pages with my WIPs and stashed items...there's quite a few.

The other thing I have done today is set up a twitter @XXXStitching so feel free to follow me on there. I've never been a twitter user but thought I might be able to ramble on a little a time as well as my more detailed posts on here. I also thought maybe that I could connect better with folks, so if you have a twitter let me know your user name and I'll add you.

Keep stitching.....

A stitch in time is now mine

I've inherited a treasure trove!

My hubby's Groma has gone into a home recently, at 95 she needs the extra care they can provide. So in clearing out her rooms at the in laws, I got given the sewing box of course. With it hasn't been touched in years so they had no idea what was in it. It's took me an evening to go through it and I thought I share with you guys the stash I've found.

There are threads, needles, chalk, scissors, tape measures, needle cases, zips, fasteners, random old coins, screws and crochet hooks.

I have to say I'm hugely giddy about the massive button and buckle collection that I have found. The pile is just massive!
I collect up any old buttons lying about but I guess this is what it looks like after decades of collecting them up.
I had seen some button jewellery and thought it looked fun to make but lacking the buttons to do it, I've never had a go......until now!!

Here's a closer look at some of the other bits and bobs.

Quite a collection of crochet hooks. I've done a bit but not much. Groma used to do loads my hubby tells me it was her main craft.

And just check out these old needle and fastener packets!

Quite a groovy collection of needle cases.

This last one reminds me of the stuff I used to stitch with my Grandma when I was starting out when I was just a little girl, before I graduated onto Aida, even weave and linen.

And finally this gorgeous tape measure, which when I showed my hubby he said that he remembers this from being really young and getting told not to play with it.

So all in all I'm thrilled with integrating Groma's stash into my own.
I wonder what will happen to my stash in the distant future.

Motherly Devotion progress

Another ten hours rotation completed!! I'm doing good at getting the stitches in. I've been back onto Motherly Devotion for the first time since it got a staining (see link blog posts for the story)...hangs head.
Here it is as before:

And now after this rotation.

Looking good. I always find Joan Elliot charts are a lovely stitch. I think its because they are so easy to break into sections to work on at a time.

I have decided to go back round to In the arms of an angel next. I did have 4 things in my rotation before baby number 2 arrived but I think I'll work my way back up. I also need to make sure that the Baby hearts gets done in time for my nephews arrival. I'm looking at seeing how many of my WIPs/UFOs I can complete this year. Although having said that I have 2 new starts in rotation ha ha.
But I have to at least aim to be good!

I got over excited when I got this months copy of Crossstitcher magazine.....so I've been drooling mega big time over red gate stitchery check her stuff out on Etsy.
DIY Kit - Cross Stitched Leather Cuff, Dark Brown Leather with Abstract Flower Design
The cross stitch jewellery stuff that she has are just so different I'm in love and I've been raving to hubby who is just yes dear about. But I'm sure you all will understand better!
Totally getting added to my birthday list (I'm big 30 in April :-O)

Baby Hearts

I've done another rotation! Feels so good to be back on track, fingers crossed this is the way forward :)

I've done my 10 hours on Baby Hearts Sampler. It'll be a gift for my in laws who are expecting their second baby. My nephew is due in May, so should be plenty of time to get it done.
I'm so pleased it's stitching up pretty quick this is the middle heart completed

Here's the full design from the packet.

I also got round to ordering the scissors I wanted for Christmas and a smaller plastic snap frame so that I can tailor the frame to better fit something like this baby hearts and for smaller designs. I'm so glad I came over to these type of frames they are so much nicer to use.
I'm also on the look out for a few charts....firstly if any of you can help. I have this elephant and I love him a lot, he was a gift from a stall owner who my mother was buying painted leaves from. He's supposed to keep evil from your home if you keep him facing the door as elephant's won't let anything past they don't want to. Whether it works or not is one thing but I have to say the notion always captivated me as a young girl. I've looked a lot but not been able to find anything similar to stitch. I've always thought it would be a nice stitch.
The other chart I'm thinking of looking for is a nice old world map one with a kind of here be dragons kind of feel ....I've yet to have a look about but if anyone has seen anything like these and can point me in the direction I would be very grateful.

I'm off now to pick up the next rotation piece and off we go again. Loving the new routine :) Happy Happy Stitcher!
